Round 5: Cadwell Park Part 2

Post to Twitter Post to Facebook

Conquering Cadwell. Part 2

“So she said, would you like an aquarium with that?

I don’t care what its star sign is, I just want a fucking fish”

Despite the 1am finish, spirits were much improved on Saturday morning and to be fair, qualifying first in our class set the tone of a day that got better and better.  Even if Keith’s jokes didn’t  :-)

Anyone who knows Cadwell will know that as well as being a bitch of a track, there’s also the added joy of having to set up your garage in a pop-up awning down the hill away from your van. Space was really restricted, so it was a bit of a jigsaw puzzle to get it all in.

Race time came round and Ben went out first as usual. He got a terrible start and was slow off the line, giving himself lots of work to do. But he soon started slicing up the field, and by the time he came in we were sitting P1 in the race in our class.  Keith put in a storming session second and to be honest the tone was set from there.  We didn’t lose the lead at any point in the race.

There were a lot of safety cars deployed and we had to be careful about when we brought the riders in. With the rule being that you only have 10 secs to get the next rider back out before the ‘train’ passes you have to be on the ball. Thankfully Simon and Jim are and we managed to get them in and out without losing a lap every time we needed to. The short pitlane at Cadwell certainly helped

We finished the race first in class – a truly joyous win, especially joyous because it didn’t bloody rain for the first time since Brands Hatch!!  :-)

P.S.

There were some pretty nasty accidents during the weekend and we know that a couple of riders were badly hurt. We’ve been told they are all recovering, but we’d like to wish them all well from the whole TTC team.
